ABOUT RAIN
Alright let’s get to it - My name is Rainie May, and I am a multidisciplinary designer and marketing professional with a background rooted in graphic design, digital experiences, brand development, and creative strategy. My work has evolved from hands-on production and visual design into leading marketing operations, managing brand experiences, and developing creative strategies that connect businesses with their audiences.
Born in Colorado among the vibrant orange hues of Garden of the Gods and raised in New Hampshire surrounded by the lush landscapes of the White Mountains, I have long been influenced by the relationship between place, people, and visual storytelling. I believe great design should do more than look good - it should communicate clearly, create a feeling, and ultimately serve a purpose.
Today, I serve as the Marketing Operations Manager for Waterville Valley Resort, where I lead day-to-day marketing operations for a four-season destination resort. In this role, I oversee marketing strategy, digital campaigns, website development, social media, communications, creative direction, events, and brand execution across a wide range of channels. I manage and mentor a multidisciplinary marketing team while balancing the creative, strategic, and operational needs of a constantly evolving resort environment.
A major part of my role is owning the resort's digital presence from both a creative and strategic perspective. I oversee website content, landing pages, digital campaigns, performance optimization, and communications while using analytics and audience insights to continually refine our approach. I also lead creative direction for print and digital campaigns, event branding, internal signage, wayfinding, on-mountain communications, and media initiatives. Working with organizations and brands including BMW, Ski NH, Visit NH, White Mountain Attractions, Prinoth, U.S. Ski & Snowboard, Boarding For Breast Cancer, and 603 Brewery has given me the opportunity to bring cohesive design and brand strategy to a wide range of audiences and experiences.
My path to marketing leadership began with more than a decade of hands-on design experience. Before stepping into my current role, I spent several years as the Graphic Artist and Web Designer at Waterville Valley Resort, helping shape the resort's visual identity across digital, print, and physical spaces. My work included everything from alpine, nordic, and valley maps to signage, posters, advertising, event materials, photography, social content, presentations, and managing multiple websites. I learned how to think about a brand not simply as a collection of graphics, but as an entire experience.
Earlier in my career, I worked as a Graphic Artist at American Marketing Inc. in Pennsylvania, where I designed and digitized artwork for screen-printing and embroidery. Working directly with clients, managing multiple projects and deadlines, and learning the technical side of production gave me a strong foundation in communication, craftsmanship, and brand consistency. Those experiences continue to influence the way I approach marketing and design today.
I hold an Associate of Fine Arts degree in Graphic Design from Delaware County Community College outside of Philadelphia. During and beyond my education, I have worked with a variety of clients, organizations, publications, and businesses, including the Tesla Science Foundation, Yeoman Brewing Company, Woodstock Coffee Company, PKK Printing, The Communitarian Newspaper, and Pegasus Literary Magazine.
I am proficient across the Adobe Creative Suite, including Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Lightroom, Premiere Pro, and Acrobat, with additional experience in photography, videography, website design with Squarespace, Wordpress, and Shopify, analytics with Google, Meta, & Hootesuite, social media, digital advertising, Microsoft Office, Canva, print production, screen-printing, embroidery, and event marketing.
Design is constantly evolving, and so is my approach to it. I am interested in the space where creativity, strategy, technology, and experience intersect, and I am always looking for new ways to learn, experiment, and create work that has a lasting impact.
